An Oran man is being held in connection to child abuse charges.  According to the Scott County Sheriff’s office emergency medical personnel responded to a residence on Railroad Street in Oran Wednesday afternoon.  The call reported a spider had bitten a two year old in the face.  Medical personnel determined the injury was inconsistent with a bite.  The boy’s eye was swollen shut and appeared to have been hit with something. During a subsequent interview 21-year old Cameron Gettings admitted to hitting the child because he was being loud and jumping on the bed.  Gettings was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.  He is being held on a 25-thousand dollar bond.  The child was treated and released from the hospital to a relative.
