TODAY'S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .
De Ke, 28, a bank robber in China, who got arrested for bank robbery after a teller laughed at his threat. De Ke had threatened the teller with his meat cleaver only to realize she was safe behind an unbreakable security barrier. A security guard then intervened, allowing another customer to disarm him before police arrived on the scene. Security cameras show the tellers laughing at the would-be robber.
AND THEN THERE'S .....
Erik Castillo, 33, who was arrested for robbing an Ohio convenience store after clerks recognized his voice. The problem started when Castillo showed up in a ski mask demanding money from the same store his brother worked in. The cashier recognized his voice from his frequent visits to see his brother and called the cops the second he left. He was caught at home with the stolen money.
OR HOW 'BOUT .....
Anthony Cifuentes, 37, a Florida man who was arrested for outstanding warrants after loitering outside a store with his face painted blue. Dollar Tree employees called police and described a strange man that had been lurking near their store wearing a business suit, with bluish-purple paint splattered over his face. Police showed up asked him for ID, only to learn that he was wanted for writing bad checks.
