Three Rivers College will host the new High School Equivalence Test—which has replaced the GED test—in March. Testing Center coordinator Diane Patterson tells KZIM-KSIM that this new test is different—as the original was all with paper and pencil, and you had to wait for everyone to finish. Now it is completely online, and you can work straight through or take breaks between sections. The exam will be offered at Caruthersville High School on Saturday, March 8th, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., and registration ends March 4th. Patterson says it cover writing, essay, math, science, social studies and reading and now costs $60 to the state, which allows the test to be taken in its entirety with two free retests per section. Go to hiset.ets.org to register, pay and schedule the test. Patterson says there is an abundance of information on the website, overview of tests, practice tests and how to create your account.
