Quinn changes Illinois concealed carry legislation

Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has demanded tougher restrictions in a bill that would make his state the last nationwide to allow the concealed carry of guns.

A federal appeals court ruled that Illinois' ban on concealed carry was unconstitutional and gave lawmakers until July 9 to come up with a plan.

For months, lawmakers debated and came up with a compromise measure they sent to Quinn.

But the Chicago Democrat says it was a rush job and influenced by the National Rifle Association. He used his power of amendatory veto Tuesday to call for a one-gun limit and a ban on weapons in establishments that serve alcohol, among other things.

The bill's sponsor says lawmakers will override Quinn ahead of Tuesday's deadline.
