A Poplar Bluff man who has pled not guilty in the death of his father and severe injury of his mother for allegedly striking them with a baseball bat was granted a change of venue. 27-year-old Matthew D Jenkins appeared in Butler county court Tuesday. After witness testimony in February, a trial was ordered on felony first-degree assault, felony second-degree murder, and two felony counts of armed criminal action. Jenkins allegedly beat his parents January 15th at their Poplar Bluff home and told police he was gone during the arrack, but later admitted to the beating. Jenkins’s case will be transferred to the New Madrid County Circuit Clerk.
