TODAY'S GENIUS AWARD GOES TO . . . . . . .

Jorge Perez, 23, who managed to shoot himself in the groin with a flare gun. Perez told deputies he was playing with an unloaded flare gun. He then loaded the gun and put it down. He came back later and had forgotten he had loaded the gun and it discharged, struck the floor and ricocheted back into his genital area. He was treated for multiple burn wounds and lacerations to his delicate private parts.
AND THEN THERE'S .....

Penelope Soto, an 18-year-old Miami woman, who flipped off a judge she appeared before in court. Soto was sentenced for a drug possession charge and laughed and bid the judge "Adios" as she walked out of the courtroom. The judge then doubled her bond money and Soto, in return, flipped off the judge. The judge asked her, "Did you tell me to (expletive) off?" Soto replied, "Yes sir," and the judge ordered her held in contempt of court and to be held for 30 days in the county jail.
OR HOW 'BOUT .....

Two Georgia men, who should have thought first before calling police to report a robbery, especially since they were selling pot and had outstanding warrants. The two men told police the armed robbery took place at their home and the two fled and called authorities. Officers searched the home, in case the robber was still there. Inside they smelled a strong odor of marijuana and found a pot dealing operation. The home owner was arrested and while doing a background check of the other man, police found he had an outstanding warrant. He was taken into custody too.
OKAY, ONE MORE .....

An unidentified California teen, whose plot to steal a game console from a local church was foiled when he left his cell phone at the scene. Police discovered an X-Box and several controllers were missing, but they also found a cell phone. Deputies used the phone to determine the address of the phone's owner and were able to recover the stolen items. The 17-year-old boy was taken to a Juvenile Detention Facility.
