A Sikeston Police Officer is recovering after being shot when his gun accidentally discharged shooting him in the leg.  It happened when police responded to a call Sunday around 4 PM off Murray Lane.  A call reported shots fired in the area.  When officers arrived a weapon unintentionally discharged and struck the officer in the leg.  He has been treated for non-life threatening injuries.  The investigation into the shots fired continues.
