Cape man pleads guilty to crack possession

A Cape Girardeau man pleaded guilty in federal court to a felony count of possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute. 24-year old Tyrell M. Myers faces up to life in prison and a $4 million fine, followed by a period of supervised release for up to five years. He appeared before U.S. District Judge Stephen Limbaugh Jr. Myers admitted that around July 27, after returning keys to a Cape Girardeau rental car business, he was approached by police who believed he was a fugitive. Police found a bag containing what they suspected to be crack cocaine. Further forensic analysis confirmed it was crack cocaine weighing 50.5 grams. Myers told police he intended to distribute it. His sentencing is set for May 3. Report from the SE Missourian.
