The healthcare debate rages on! Congresswoman JoAnn Emerson says it is frustrating for her too
Since the election of Scott brown to the Senate in Massachusetts the healthcare debate has fallen into chaos. 8th District Congresswoman JoAnn Emerson says progressives in Washington are pushing hard for a single payer plan. The Senate says NO to the House version, and in turn the House says NO to the Senate version. She says it is looking like nothing will happen in the near future if at all. She tells KZIM KSIM state regulations are making it difficult to stop the requirements of barring pre-existing conditions, hampering any chance of making insurance more affordable… and Medicare cuts are unacceptable. Especially with Missouri having so many elderly in rural areas. It is unfair for them to suffer or be penalized. Emerson says the bottom line is that it is NOT realistic to add another 1-trillion dollars to the deficit and incorporating any of the plans now being debated would increase the tax burden. The Federal Deficit for Fiscal year 2010 is now at 1-point-56-trillion. The executive branch of government may not issue debt in excess of a limit set by Congress.
